March Athlete of the Month – Nicolas Leon
Our Male Athlete of the Month for March is Nicolas Leon! Don’t let his youthful appearance fool you, Nick has been a member at CFPB for over 3 years and has racked up over 500 workouts! He’s a regular at our 4pm class, often showing up 20-30 minutes early.
Nick’s experience shows when you see him in class, and he’s always eager to learn more. He’s also taken the health lessons CrossFit has taught him and started using them outside the gym. He thanks CrossFit for helping him say no to food that won’t help his performance. He also makes the mature decision to prioritize sleep when most people his age are awake into the next day. Says Nick, “Now I’m usually in bed early like an old man.”
An old man who just won Athlete of the Month that is.
Some more fun facts about Nick…
When did you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit in 2015 at Cat 5. I actually started with their fit camp program which is like CFPB’s BeachFit, and I just wanted to switch things up and get stronger.
What do you do for work?
I work for my dad. We work on helicopters and in the summer we use them to crop dust.
What hobbies do you enjoy?
I like to ride dirt bikes, run, and whenever I get around to it, surfing and paddle boarding.
What is your most memorable CrossFit workout?
Most memorable workout would be Murph. I just really enjoy it and what its about, and I always look forward to pushing myself as hard as I can in it.
Have you had any setbacks in CrossFit?
About a year and a half ago I fractured the top of my tibia where the PCL is and broke my hand while riding, so I ended up not being able to do much for 6 or 7 weeks.
What do you love most about CFPB?
I love how helpful the coaches are and all the awesome members and how everyone is always encouraging each other to be better.
