Athlete of the Month: Ron Rigaudon
I’m the Operation Sales Manager at Bimbo Bakery USA. I worked with Bimbo Bakery for 17 years. I grew up in Miami and moved to Palm Beach at the age of 20 years old. I moved to Jupiter in the Abacoa neighborhood in December of 2006. I had the opportunity to purchase my first home in Palm Beach County. I’m Married to my Beautiful wife Maureen. We have a blended family of four children, 2 boys and 2 girls.
What do you do for fun? Any hobbies?
I enjoy live music and traveling. My hobbies right now are BeachFit and now CrossFit lol.
Were you athletic growing up? Did you play sports?
I was not very athletic growing up. I tried playing many different sports but I was not very good at any of them.
How did you find/start BeachFit? What was memorable about first starting?
I started on January 1st of this year but that was not planned. I was tired of the regular Gym. I didn’t have the motivation and discipline. I wanted to be part of something that I was excited about every day and could easily fit into my lifestyle. I found that by joining CFPB.
Rafael (a CFPB member since 2013) and I worked together at Bimbo. I remembered he and I had a conversation about CrossFit. The passion with which he was describing his experienced stayed with me. When I hit my rock bottom last year, I decided to try BeachFit. The most memorable thing for me was Coach Melissa and Andrew invited me and my wife to both come try out BeachFit without any pressure to sign up. After our first class, I knew I didn’t only like it, but I needed it.
I recently made the switch to attend CrossFit classes. I felt that I’m ready for the challenge. Coach Arlan and Coach Amanda have been very supportive in helping me with the transition. I hope to continue to stay active. Exercising is part of my life now, and for years to come.
Can you talk about your body transformation?
Do you have a favorite workout or favorite movements you like seeing when the WOD is posted?
Do you have future goals in CF or fitness related?
The only thing that I can say about my transformation is I only focus on the process, not the results.
I don’t have favorite movements, but I try not to fear any movements.
My future goal in CrossFit is to continue to enjoy the process.
My personal growth results this year are:
· I went from a pants size 38 to 32
· I went from XL shirts size to medium
· I went from 243 lbs to 176 lbs
What advice do you have for the person on the couch who might want to start? Maybe they are looking at Jan. 1, needing a change and looking to try something new…
My advice for any person who might want to start CFPB, I understand exactly how you’re feeling. If you want to be motivated, excited, feel good and accomplished every day, CFPB is the place for you. I’m a finance major, the cost of CFPB is a great investment in your health. If you come an average of at least 6 times a week, it’s only $6 a day with personal one on one coaching lol.
(Side note: Ron comes an average of at least 6 times a week.)
What do you enjoy most about CFPB?
What I enjoy the most about CFPB is the coaching staff. Everyone is passionate and cares about every one of us. I really appreciate that.
Thank you Tony and Andrew for allowing me to be part of your gym. It’s been a life-changing experience for me. I truly enjoy every day. Thank you again. -Ron
THANK YOU RON!!! We love having you in the CFPB family!
